YouTube Find: Looking back at WCW Thunder, here’s Air Raid (AJ Styles & Air Paris) vs The Jung Dragons (Yun Yang and Kaz Hayashi).
Ready to Rumble on Netflix
Looking for a bad movie to watch. Ready to Rumble is now up for Netflix instant view. What makes this notable are all the WCW stars who make cameos. Unfortunately this movie also sets up David Arquette’s WCW title reign.
All I can say about this funny and bad movie is, “Who’s better than Kanyon?!”
YouTube Find: Goldberg vs Giant. Taking a look back to WCW Nitro and a short but explosive big man match between Goldberg and Giant (Paul Wight aka Big Show). Watch for appearances by Bam Bam Bigelow and Kevin Nash
YouTube Find: Sting Vs. Goldberg. WCW Halloween Havoc 1999. This match with Sting was unsanctioned so the title did not change hands.
This PPV happened not long after I attended a WCW house show in Oklahoma City, OK. The big build up to the Halloween Havoc 1999 PPV was Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious. Unfortunately during that match Sid Vicious was bleeding way too much, a real crimson mask moment. (Goldberg Vs. Sid Vicious. WCW Halloween Havoc 1999)
Another picture from my personal archives. Here’s Harlem Heat making a move on Virgil at a WCW event at the Myriad in Oklahoma City, OK, on October 10, 1999.

YouTube Find: The legendary Junkyard Dog takes on the equally legendary Ron Simmons in this 1989 NWA/WCW match. Damn! That was a fast count. Looks like the ever in trouble one way or another Teddy Long was officiating this short match.
Jim Ross announcing, with an appearance by Jim Herd.
WCW World champion Lex Luger is introduced and the story centers around a 15-man battle royal with the last man standing in the ring earning a title match with the champ. “All American” Ron Simmons wins the battle by outlasting the other 14 men, but is attacked from behind by Luger. Luger injures the would-be challenger and Simmons is carried out of the arena on a stretcher, with Luger gloating to the crowd about his dominance as Simmons is carted out of the building. A Blade Runner reunion of sorts as Sting & The Ultimate Warrior take on Bret Hart & Hollywood Hogan during the NWO era of WCW

Watched the Rise and Fall of WCW over the weekend. Loved the history on the DVD. Let me state I was a big WCW fan. Growing up I watched WCW and Georgia Championship Wrestling on TBS. When Nitro was on, that was the show I was watching. I didn’t watch WWF/E that much during the time Nitro was on. Some of you might think that since this is a WWE DVD it might be biased to make WCW look bad. I didn’t see the DVD that way. From the interviews and from the history I already knew, it was purty much dead on. If you are a fan of WCW, this DVD should be worth watching. Especially for all the great matches on the second and third DVDs.
Great WCW moments - The first and last appearance of Seven.
Dustin Rhodes returned to WCW after years as Golddust for the WWF. After a short run, he returns to the WWE as Golddust, then later in a similar gimmick to Seven for TNA as Black Reign, and finally back to Golddust in the WWE.
I saw this live on WCW Nitro. Thought it was one of the coolest entrances I’ve seen in a while, and then they shoot all over it.
Ha! I remember the “Powers That Be” era of WCW. How about you?
