My Thoughts on WWE TLC 2009
It’s the last WWE PPV of the year, TLC. I’m actually glad the next PPV isn’t until the end of January. This means my D*tv bill will be a little lighter coming into the Royal Rumble. Well here I am all excited about the next PPV when I should be talking about TLC 2009.
TLC was a good PPV. Again like with the Hell in a Cell PPV it’s a gimmicked themed show. This time it’s Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. As I stated last time, I don’t these PPVs based on a type of match. It cheapens the match. The ladder match is always something special; a tables match a little less so, but still entertaining; and the TLC match itself is often one of the best matches of the year. This year we get something special, a chairs match… okay it really wasn’t that special after all. Sorry about that. I got a little snarky there.
WWE TLC 2009 was a good PPV. I was entertained from the start of the card to the finish. I give WWE TLC a
out of
stars.
My match of the night isn’t going to be popular to some, but for just the writing of the storyline alone it deserves a mention. My match of the night goes to Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston. This match wasn’t even my highest rated match of the night, that went to the TLC main event.
No the Kingston/Orton match had the one thing that was missing from most of the matches on this PPV, a good story behind it. And this is coming from someone who’s not even a fan of Randy Orton. In fact I tend to call him BKO (Buzz Kill Orton) in Twitter when ever he shows up to kill the momentum on RAW. From the beginning this has been a good story of someone standing up to the neighborhood bully. From the opening segment between Kofi Kingston confronting Orton’s carrier pidgins Legacy and later Orton himself, to the action in the ring, which was very good by the way, this was a complete package of a match.

My Ratings: Woooo!
, Great
, Good
, Okay
, Eh?
- ECW Champion Christian def. Shelton Benjamin (Ladder Match)

- Drew McIntyre def. John Morrison (New Intercontinental Champion)

- Women’s Champion Michelle McCool def. Mickie James

- Sheamus def. John Cena in a Tables Match (New WWE Champion)

- World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker def. Batista (Chair Match)

- Randy Orton def. Kofi Kingston

- D-Generation X def. Chris Jericho & Big Show in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match (New Unified Tag Team Champions)

Random Thoughts:
- Oh No! Those chairs are made of amalgamated metals!
- I think this was an off night for Matt Striker.
- Even with the momentum break for the “fixing of the cut”, I still gave the ladder match a 4. Both Christian and Benjamin gave it their all, even if it didn’t quite steal the show.
- McIntyre New IC Champion. Ziggler who?
- Cena threw himself through the table. Sheamus is champion!
- This is what I get for not getting to watch Smackdown that much. What was up with Teddy Long restarting the match? Is this going somewhere?
- McBoring. No not McIntyre, the other one.
