This fall, the super heroes of wrestling have a new home. Friday Night SmackDown will premiere on its new home October 1st at 8:00 PM ET. The program, which debuted more than 10 years ago, is one of the longest-running weekly episodic shows on television.

Okay I give up. Who is it?
As an avid Syfy channel watcher I see the Smackdown teaser ad quite a bit. Every time I see this ad I try to figure out who all is in it. I think I’ve identified everyone in that ad except one. Who’s the guy at the end Rey Mysterio is making contact with? Speculation on my part is it’s @bryandanielson. Of course my imagination could just be running away from me. Which I guess is the idea of the ad in the first place. Okay I give up. Who is it?

Syfy’s latest “House of Imagination” promo includes a Smackdown teaser. Very well done.
(reason I say Smackdown teaser and not a NXT promo, it features Rey Mysterio.)

Smackdown to Syfy
Read the news this morning that WWE Smackdown will be moving to Syfy in the fall. Even though it’s good to see them move off of MyNetworkTV and on to Cable I’m not sure what is in it for SyFy. Fridays are typically their best night of TV. Such shows like Battlestar Galactica, Sanctuary, Stargate Universe, and others have done well in that time slot. For me, I have a DVR and so I can watch where ever they shift the good SciFi programming, but I’m sure there is going to be some real vocal Syfy fans on this.

WWE NXT now my fav, TNA not.
After this latest episode of WWE NXT, I’ve decided it is now my favorite wrestling show. It’s got a unique concept, I’m enjoying the matches, I actually care about the rookies, the WWE pros are being shown in an all new light, and this is the best Michale Cole has ever been.
I tried watching TNA Impact’s new Monday show. I’ll just say it’s a good thing I had it DVR’d. No, not because it was must see, but so I could fast forward through the crap and get to the good wrestling. Last Monday’s show last a whole 15 minutes for me.
If I’d have to rank the other shows on right now I’d put Ring of Honor on HDnet 2nd (You should be watching this!), Raw/Smackdown 3rd (tied, like them both), and Superstars 4th (only because I don’t see it that often).

Learn something new every day. Here I was lamenting I didn’t get to watch Smackdown all that often, and I go and find out this this very afternoon it’s been on Hulu. No excuses for missing it now.

FX Rumors Got Me Thinking On MNTV
I just read yet another rumor. Oh and for the record, I don’t take stock in rumors. I just happen to see a headline and it got me thinking. This particular rumor is based on a possible move of WWE’s Smackdown to the FX network.
For me I would love for this to happen. Not that it’s the FX network. (Loved “The Shield” BTW) No for me I would love to get Smackdown off of “My Network TV” (MNTV) and on another cable network.
At no time during the week, except for Fridays, do I even consider watching MNTV. It’s bad. I think this hurts the WWE and the many local affiliates in more ways than one. (Oops need to back up a moment. I do watch “local” morning news program @OK43)
I would love to watch Smackdown in HD. Our local MNTV isn’t in HD for me.
A couple of things to think about:
Would moving to cable hurt Smackdown’s ratings?
Which network would pick up Smackdown, and would they support it?
(TNN and ECW come to mind)
To many, Smackdown has become WWE’s “A” show. Don’t you think it deserves to be on an “A” level network?
