Tyler Black wins Ring of Honor World Title

At ROH’s 8th Anniversary show in NYC, Tyler Black faced what was seemingly his last chance to win the gold. Austin Aries had used every trick in the book in their last match to avoid losing the title. On this night, Tyler Black did everything in his power to not only stop Austin Aries but to beat him to win his first World Championship

I’m very tempted to get this DVD. If that match was on PPV I would have ordered it. - @wrestlingfan

Quick look at ROH iPhone App

I found the new Ring of Honor iPhone App very easy to use and read. It’s your basic news headlines kind of application. The only minor thing I’m not liking is the video sections links to YouTube’s web site instead of just launching the videos directly. Over all its a great way to keep up with Ring of Honor on the go. If you have an iPhone, go ahead and get this app, its free.

Forget the Slammys. Razor over at Kick-Out!! Wrestling has posted his awards for 2009. Listed are best TV Match of the Year, WTF?! Moment of the Year, PPV of the Year, Feud of the Year, Finisher of the Year, Feel Good Moment of the Year, NASTY! Moment of the Year, Breakthrough Star of the Year, Tag Team of the Year, Match of the Year, and the coveted Superstar of the Year.

(spoiler for 1 award) I actually agree with his picks this year, except for one. Don’t get me wrong, John Morrison vs. Rey Mysterio deserves to be his pick, and it’s my 2nd place pick, but I would have to go with Tyler Black vs. Bryan Danielson 3. That match alone is the reason you should be watching Ring of Honor.

Hey did everyone see this last night? Look an ROH fan in the front row at RAW! How many of you can remember when the WWE wouldn’t have allowed another company’s logo to be shown during a live broadcast? Haven’t seen any TNA T-shirts on WWE TV have you?

ROH moves to Mondays before WWE RAW

Ring of Honor and HDNet have announced they are moving to Monday nights. http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2922

PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING Returns To Monday Night!
Monday, July 27, 2009

For years now in the United States, Monday night has been considered THE night for professional wrestling, and Ring of Honor is now poised to continue that tradition. Together, ROH and HDNet are very happy to announce that effective Monday, August 17th, the acclaimed ‘Ring of Honor on HDNet’ will now air each and every Monday night at 8pm EST!

With this transition to a prime time slot, ROH is now in a position to kick off your Monday night wrestling viewing with a humongous bang, as we bring you what we believe is pound-for-pound the BEST wrestling program on television today. This move places ROH on HDNet in a position to gain more viewership, particularly among fans that are already accustomed to watching on that night. And for those fans that are unable to view the program at 8pm EST, HDNet is going to replay all of the action again at 11pm EST!

Please join ROH on August 17th as we make the jump to Monday night, and if you can’t watch HDNet in your area, now is the time to contact your local cable provider and let them know that you want your ‘Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet’ – COMING TO MONDAY NGHTS STARTING AUGUST 17!
I’m so happy to hear this. Finally get a full Monday of wrestling again. Last week’s main event on ROH on HDNet, Tyler Black v Bryan Danielson, was clearly the match of the week on all TV.
State of the Twitter Feed from @wrestlingfan

Big hello to all the Twitter followers who have joined me over the last few years. Back when I started @wrestlingfan there was very little wrestling news and information on Twitter. Now the Twitterverse is full of it.

This brings me to the point of the state of @wrestlingfan. I’m tired. I don’t know how many of you have noticed, but I haven’t posted here at Tumblr or posted directly to the Twitter feed in a while now. This doesn’t mean I don’t care about it anymore. In fact I would love to start a discussion about the appearance of Evan Borne, Jack Swagger, and Mark Henry on Raw last night. BUT I just don’t see the interaction from the Twitter feed like I use to.

If you are a long time follower you’ll remember me talking about dropping autofollow because of all the bots and spammers following. Even though I dropped autofollow, the bulk of the followers are still bots and spammers. It’s almost not worth it.

I said almost. There are a few of you following who get what Twitter is about, conversation. I really want to thank each and every one of you. You make operating @wrestlingfan worth while.

Now what am I leading to?

I’m dropping all of the news feeds. You can easily get TNA, ROH, UFC, and WWE directly from the source now on Twitter. You don’t need me to feed these headlines anymore.

Also, I’m sick of those people abusing Retweet. I can’t follow any @ conversations because of all the RT noise. Retweeting is a great thing on Twitter. It’s how news spreads. There is a limit though. You don’t RT everything from somebody. Basically you are stealing their Twitter post and call it your own. Not cool.

And that brings me to my final point.

When I started @wrestlingfan I wanted to share news with people, and then discuss it with them. Unfortunately, my fault mostly, @wrestlingfan devolved into a news bot just feeding headlines from multiple sources. In the end @wrestlingfan just became something like Google Reader. I hate that, and I’ve had enough of it.

So the auto posting of feeds have to go.

If the feeds I provided were the only reason you were following @wrestlingfan, just look around you’ll find a replacement. Feel free to unfollow @wrestlingfan. I won’t take it personally. In fact at the end of this post, I’ll post some other Twitters for you to follow for news.

For those of you who want to have a conversation about what we all love, wrestling. I look forward to chatting with you.

From now on everything posted to @wrestlingfan is from me, a fan. As it should be.

Okay even though it’s Tuesday, here’s an early #followfriday for you:
