My Thoughts on WWE TLC 2009
It’s the last WWE PPV of the year, TLC. I’m actually glad the next PPV isn’t until the end of January. This means my D*tv bill will be a little lighter coming into the Royal Rumble. Well here I am all excited about the next PPV when I should be talking about TLC 2009.
TLC was a good PPV. Again like with the Hell in a Cell PPV it’s a gimmicked themed show. This time it’s Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. As I stated last time, I don’t these PPVs based on a type of match. It cheapens the match. The ladder match is always something special; a tables match a little less so, but still entertaining; and the TLC match itself is often one of the best matches of the year. This year we get something special, a chairs match… okay it really wasn’t that special after all. Sorry about that. I got a little snarky there.
WWE TLC 2009 was a good PPV. I was entertained from the start of the card to the finish. I give WWE TLC a
out of
stars.
My match of the night isn’t going to be popular to some, but for just the writing of the storyline alone it deserves a mention. My match of the night goes to Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston. This match wasn’t even my highest rated match of the night, that went to the TLC main event.
No the Kingston/Orton match had the one thing that was missing from most of the matches on this PPV, a good story behind it. And this is coming from someone who’s not even a fan of Randy Orton. In fact I tend to call him BKO (Buzz Kill Orton) in Twitter when ever he shows up to kill the momentum on RAW. From the beginning this has been a good story of someone standing up to the neighborhood bully. From the opening segment between Kofi Kingston confronting Orton’s carrier pidgins Legacy and later Orton himself, to the action in the ring, which was very good by the way, this was a complete package of a match.

My Ratings: Woooo!

- ECW Champion Christian def. Shelton Benjamin (Ladder Match)
- Drew McIntyre def. John Morrison (New Intercontinental Champion)
- Women’s Champion Michelle McCool def. Mickie James
- Sheamus def. John Cena in a Tables Match (New WWE Champion)
- World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker def. Batista (Chair Match)
- Randy Orton def. Kofi Kingston
- D-Generation X def. Chris Jericho & Big Show in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match (New Unified Tag Team Champions)

Random Thoughts:
- Oh No! Those chairs are made of amalgamated metals!
- I think this was an off night for Matt Striker.
- Even with the momentum break for the “fixing of the cut”, I still gave the ladder match a 4. Both Christian and Benjamin gave it their all, even if it didn’t quite steal the show.
- McIntyre New IC Champion. Ziggler who?
- Cena threw himself through the table. Sheamus is champion!
- This is what I get for not getting to watch Smackdown that much. What was up with Teddy Long restarting the match? Is this going somewhere?
- McBoring. No not McIntyre, the other one.

My Thoughts on WWE Survivor Series 2009
The WWE put on a great Survivor Series PPV last night. If you didn’t see it you missed a coulple of real mark-out moments. I give the Survivor Series PPV
out of
stars.
My match of the night goes to Team Kingston vs. Team Orton with a close second by the main event triple threat match between Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and John Cena.

- Team Miz def. Team Morrison (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)
- Batista def. Rey Mysterio
- Team Kingston def. Team Orton (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)
- World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker def. Big Show & Chris Jericho (Triple Threat Match)
- Team Mickie def. Team Michelle (Traditional Survivor Series Tag Team Elimination Match)
- WWE Champion John Cena def. Triple H & Shawn Michaels (Triple Threat Match)
Overall:

Random Thoughts:
- Mark-out moment #1: Christian hits the kill-switch on Randy Orton.
- Mark-out moment #2: Kofi Kingston pins Randy Orton within seconds of pinning C.M. Punk.
- Mark-out moment #3: Shawn Michaels gives Triple H some sweet chin music.
- Kofi Kingston and C.M. Punk tore the house down in the later part of that Survivor Series match.
- Beth Phoenix really looked dominate during the Diva Survivor Series match.
- Did you get the feeling Sheamus could have one that match all by himself?
- Rey Mysterio started strong against Batista, but the match just lacked something. I can’t quite put my finger on it, it was just off some how.
- Not sure where the “Embarrassment” was suppose to be in Mysterio v. Batista.
- Disapointed Chris Jericho didn’t win the belt this time around, but more Undertaker is okay with me.
- Did everyone like the combination of Michale Cole, Jerry Lawler, and Matt Striker? I did.
- Did you get the feeling Striker was trying to be a heal announcer for a little bit there?

YouTube Find: Sting Vs. Goldberg. WCW Halloween Havoc 1999. This match with Sting was unsanctioned so the title did not change hands.
This PPV happened not long after I attended a WCW house show in Oklahoma City, OK. The big build up to the Halloween Havoc 1999 PPV was Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious. Unfortunately during that match Sid Vicious was bleeding way too much, a real crimson mask moment. (Goldberg Vs. Sid Vicious. WCW Halloween Havoc 1999)

My Thoughts on WWE Bragging Rights
After the Hell in a Cell PPV a mere 3 weeks ago, I was determined to not order Bragging Rights. This was due to the fact having a PPV every 3 weeks instead of every 4 weeks was putting quite a dent in my pocketbook. Of course WWE convinced me to order it. I just couldn’t pass up Miz v. Morrison and the Cena v. Orton Iron Man match. I’m glad I did. This was a good PPV. I give WWE Bragging Rights a
out of
.
My match of the night goes to the World Heavyweight Championship 4-way. A close 2nd would be Miz v Morrison.

My Ratings: Woooo!

- United States Champion The Miz def. Intercontinental Champion John Morrison

- SmackDown Divas def. Raw Divas

- World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker def. CM Punk, Batista & Rey Mysterio (Fatal Four Way Match)

- Team SmackDown def. Team Raw

- John Cena def. WWE Champion Randy Orton (One Hour, Anything Goes WWE Iron Man Match)

Random Thoughts:
- The Miz is Awesome.
- I would have scored Team SmackDown v. Team Raw higher if it hadn’t been for the oh so predictable Big Show turn. I realize it was for story line, and it made Jericho look like an evil genius, but I really would have liked to have an ending I couldn’t predict. Surprise me every once in a while.
- Great Diva Match. It’s been a while since I’ve actually written that.
- The Iron Man match was enjoyable. Both Orton and Cena should be proud of this match. I would have liked it even more if Randy Orton hadn’t killed momentum and stood around for minutes at a time. The announcers were all like, “He’s playing defense now.” I’m like, “Think I’ll go get some more popcorn.”
- Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes feud coming? Nice.
- Batista turns on Mysterio. Batista says, “I’m going to rip your head off.” and then he does. Great example of a heal turn. Well done. We’ll see the fall out on Smackdown
. - Let’s hear it for Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, and Todd Grisham for doing such a great job announcing. They really stepped up for being one man short. Get well soon J.R.
- ECW? I’m guessing now ECW is going to be a TV only product from now on. That’s a real shame. On the plus side, ECW is the one show out of the four that I really look forward to every week. So does this mean ECW Title = TV Title?? I hope not.

My Thoughts on WWE’s Hell in the Cell
Last night was WWE’s Hell in the Cell PPV. I was a bit disappointed in this PPV.
To me a Hell in the Cell [HC] match is to be the ultimate conclusion to a bitter feud.
Only one match last night came close to this definition, and that was DX v. Legacy.
The other HC matches just felt like regular matches that happen to be in a cage to me.
I don’t feel a whole PPV should be based on the Hell in the Cell, it makes that special
match feel watered down. I give Hell in the Cell a
out of
star rating.
My match of the night goes to Batista/Mysterio v. Jericho/Big Show, with honorable mentions to
the U.S. and Intercontinental title matches.

D-Generation X def. The Legacy [HC]
Overall:

Random Thoughts:
- ECW?? Where is ECW? Has anyone seen ECW?
- If the Diva matches are going to be like this, why dedicate time during a PPV to them? I’ve seen WAY better Diva matches. I fear for some of those girls safety. Mickie James clearly carried Alicia Fox.
- What was up with that New Jersey crowd?
- Now I can’t hear The Mizz say he’s awesome without thinking about Tony Atlas. Ha!
- The next PPV is only 20 days away??
- Was that Undertaker v. CM Punk match too short for you too?
Final Comment
I’m making no plans to order the next WWE PPV, Bragging Rights. Having two $50 dollar PPVs in month is just too much. I’m going to wait until November’s Survivor Series.
